Events including a Hop Harvest this Labor Day and an October Hop Exchange
are opportunities to experience California craft beer on a new level.

Sacramento, CA – August 29, 2013 – Ruhstaller is once again a pioneer in the craft brewing industry with the recent establishment of the Ruhstaller Farm & Yard just west of Sacramento. Much like a winery set amidst vineyards, the Farm & Yard offers craft beer enthusiasts a unique opportunity to experience Ruhstaller’s California Grown beer at the source – the hop farm – and to learn about the Sacramento region’s historic legacy as a preeminent hop-growing region.

“There are very few places in the world where you can enjoy a beer where it’s grown; you can’t do that in San Francisco, St. Louis or San Diego. The Farm & Yard is our chance to farm high quality hops for our beers but more importantly to educate beer aficionados and novices alike that in Sacramento we can Grow Beer,” said J-E Paino, founder of Ruhstaller. “Darrell Corti challenged us to do this, to earn the name Sacramento on the bottle by bringing back the region’s legacy of growing incredibly good hops, and the Farm & Yard is a response to that challenge.”

The Ruhstaller Farm & Yard consists of a 2.5-acre working hop farm, an educational hop exhibit showcasing hop trellising and varieties through time, and an outdoor private event venue. The final phase of a hop kiln – the Sacramento region’s first operational kiln in 30 years – will be completed this coming winter for use by both commercial and home hop farmers. The Farm & Yard is located 20 miles west of Sacramento at Exit 69 (Kidwell Road) off I-80 in Dixon. Hours are currently limited to organized events.
